Product Management Consultancy

Our product management consultancy team recently worked with a group of marketing agencies to develop a new product called KATA, which aimed to revolutionise their website development process. KATA’s unique approach involved connecting a library of design “slices” in Figma with related web components and CMS blocks, allowing developers to create websites quickly, efficiently and directly from the design. The goal of our engagement was to help KATA streamline their product development process improve user satisfaction for their development team and provide third part support to their busy agency group.

 

Discovery Phase

During the discovery phase, we conducted extensive market research and user interviews to gain insights into the target audience’s pain points and needs. We identified that the current website development process is often time-consuming, expensive, and requires extensive coding skills, which limits access to website creation. We also discovered that there is a growing demand for tools that simplify the process and make it accessible to non-developers.

 

Building Epics and User Stories

Based on the insights gathered during the discovery phase, we defined the product requirements, built epics, and created user stories that reflected the needs of our target audience. These included functionalities such as an intuitive interface that allowed users to drag and drop design slices and web components to create websites quickly, easy customisation options, and an automated code generation system.

 

Prioritisation

We prioritised features based on user feedback, market trends, and the impact they would have on the overall product. Our focus was on creating a minimum viable product (MVP) that would allow us to test the market and gather feedback to inform future development decisions.

Development and Testing

During the development phase, our team worked closely with the KATA development team to implement the prioritised features. We conducted regular testing and iterations to ensure the product met the developer’s needs and was easy to use. One of the key benefits of KATA was its ability to cut development time by two-thirds, allowing developers to create websites much more quickly than through traditional methods as well as involving designers and marketers a lot more.

 

Continuous Improvement

After launching the MVP, we continued to gather feedback from the whole team. Based on this feedback, we made improvements to the product, adding new features such as additional design slices and web components and improving customisation options. We also provided ongoing consultancy to ensure new developers could easily navigate the product and take advantage of its features.

Conclusion

Through our product management consultancy services, we helped to create KATA, a product that simplified the website development process, cutting development time by two-thirds, and making the job of developers much easier. The product was extremely well received with very positive feedback. Our approach using a defined product management process from discovery, building epics and user stories, prioritisation, development, testing, and continuous improvement allowed us to achieve these results effectively and efficiently.
